We turned into highway 190N and we began to see road signs that says Niagara Falls. Yay!! We arrived Niagara Falls at 430am. The gas tank was low, so we headed to the gas station. When I was backing up, the left tires got stucked on a stump and I heard a screechy sound. Oh no! Everyone got down the van to reduce the weight. I was too exhausted to do anything and just stood by and watch. Pei Shan took over the wheels while the rest instructed her. We managed to move out of the stump but some plastic stuff by the wheel broke. We didn't know what to do with it so we just kept it.
After that little accident, we drove around the Niagara town, hoping to find a place to nap. We didn't managed to find one, so we just parked by the roadside. When the day got brighter, we headed to the Niagara Falls State Park. We got ourselves freshened up and started our journey to the Falls. We bought a $24.50 pass each, which includes entrance fees for 5 attractions.
Our first stop was the Maid of the Mist. We were all dressed in blue raincoats and the boat took us down to the American Falls and the Horseshoe Falls. The Horseshoe Falls was amazing. As we were entering the Falls, it felt as if it was some sort of spiritual awakening. The presence of a higher power was so strong. Nature is a wonder. And God is great.
Next we took a lunch break and headed to the Cave of the Winds. This time we were all dressed in yellow raincoats. A state park patrol then took us up a wooden deck to get up close with the American Falls to feel the water pressure. It was freezing cold but lots of fun.
Other attractions we visited - 3 sisters island, Discovery Center, Aquarium, Hard Rock Cafe, and the Festival Theatre, where most of us fell asleep in. We were all too tired by the evening. Some of us took a break in the van, while some of us were air drying their shoes. Che Ven and I took a walk around the town instead. As we were wandering around town, we realized that there is quite a large Indian population around the Niagara Falls area. Not Native Indians, but India Indians.
At 900pm, we headed back into the State Park. The Falls were illuminated and at 1000pm, there was fireworks display. It was really a pretty sight. There were huge crowds even though it was raining. It got colder so Che Ven, Mandy, Pei Shan and I headed back into the visitor center. Mi Ki, Fenella and Yunn Hanm - the enthusiastic bunch, stayed out until the very end. Then it is time to say goodbye to the majestic Niagara Falls. I hope to be back someday with my family.
At about 1100pm, we drove to downtown Buffalo for a ride. Then we headed back east to New York City. I drove for a couple hours and my eyes couldn't take it anymore. I had enough of driving for the past day and I knew I had to let someone take over the wheels. Mandy took over and Yunn Hanm navigated.
